Halcyon Ensemble

The Halcyon Ensemble is a multi-faceted group consisting of core players trumpeter/arranger Andrew Harms, composer/guitarist Jeremy Lyons, and composer/pianist/soprano Lisa Perry. This trio founded Halcyon Ensemble in 2018 out of a desire to present standard Baroque and Spanish guitar repertoire with voice/trumpet, quickly realizing and embracing its multitude of other possibilities.

Andrew Harms

Boston-based trumpet performer Andrew Harms has commissioned and presented dozens of new works featuring the trumpet and a wide variety of instrumentation, including standard sonata-form piano collaborations, solo trumpet, trumpet and electric guitar, trumpet and improvised live electronics, and trumpet and pre-recorded electronics. Harms has sought to include a wide cast of cultures and genders to call attention to the dominance of white males in classical music and to add to the problem’s conversation.

Jeremy Lyons

Professional guitarist Jeremy Lyons actively presents recitals across the United States and has also appeared as a soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Warminster Symphony Orchestra, and the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Jeremy continues to perform on viola da gamba, lute, and Baroque guitar. Jeremy is the guitar instructor at Artist music education center in Perry Hall Maryland, and he also teaches guitar at the Levine School of Music in Washington D.C. An advocate for contemporary music, Jeremy regularly writes music, collaborates with other composers, and enthusiastically participates in music that connects to a variety of audience members.
